Material research is today a central point of research and practice in design, new technology, art and
design. These fields are collaborating merging their knowledges and practices to develop a new
material generation focusing on specific characteristics and how to create new environmentally
friendly materials.
However another approach rising up in the last years is the
combination of making, crafting and personal fabrication of new materials through a form of Do It
Yourself biology and craft making.
Mind the Fungi workshop talks about the new design movement and methodology about material driven, discovering how to build a new material starting from the study of a living organism like mycelium.
